If you want to install a printer from the centralized printing service of Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University on a Linux computer, follow these steps.<\/p>\n

We will need to perform two steps, first we will install the printer on our system and finally we will indicate how to install the necessary management software for its use.<\/p>\n

  1. Open the File Manager and copy the file “KOC750iSX.ppd<\/strong>” to your desktop, which you will find in the path “smb:\/\/eprinterw01.umhnet.es\/Drivers\/Konica Minolta\/bizhub c250i\/Linux\/”, when accessing the resource the system will request your\u00a0user@umh.es<\/a>\u00a0and the password you use at Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University.\"\"\"\"<\/li>\n
  2. Open “System Settings<\/strong>” and go to the “Printers<\/strong>” section, we must click on “Additional printer settings<\/strong>“.\"\"<\/li>\n
  3. Click the “Add<\/strong>” button to add a new printer.\"\"<\/li>\n
  4. When it asks us to select a device, we expand where it says “Network Printer<\/strong>” and select the option “LPD\/LPR Host or Printer<\/strong>“.\"\"<\/li>\n
  5. Fill in the fields:\n
      \n
    • Host<\/strong>: eprinterw01.umhnet.es<\/li>\n
    • Queue<\/strong>: IMPRESION_SEGURA (or UPxx)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      And click “Next”.\"\"<\/li>\n

    • Check “Provide PPD file<\/strong>“, and select the file “KOC750iSX.ppd<\/strong>” that we previously copied to our desktop. Click “Next<\/strong>“.\"\"<\/li>\n
    • On the “Installable Options<\/strong>” screen indicate:\n
        \n
      • Finishing unit<\/strong>: FS-533<\/li>\n
      • Model<\/strong>: C250i<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Click “Next”.\"\"<\/li>\n

      • Name the printer (we can name and describe it as we want) and “Apply<\/strong>“.\"\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Detailed guide for PaperCut software installation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        1. We need to access the software location, for this from the File Manager we access the PaperCut<\/strong> client location by typing “smb:\/\/eprinterw01.umhnet.es\/PCClient”, as shown in the image.\"\"<\/li>\n
        2. From that folder we copy the entire “linux<\/strong>” directory to our local disk (e.g. home\/PCClient or wherever we want).\"\"<\/li>\n
        3. Finally, we add it to the startup applications, to do this, from the desktop press Alt + F2 and search for \u00abStartup Applications<\/strong>\u00bb if we use the GNOME desktop or \u00abAutostart<\/strong>\u00bb if we use KDE.\"\"<\/li>\n
        4. Click \u00abAdd<\/strong>\u00bb and in the window that opens we indicate a name and the path where we copied the PaperCut client in the previous step.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Note:<\/strong>\u00a0It is recommended to add the parameter \u00ab-m\u00bb so that the client starts minimized in the taskbar. (e.g.: Command: \u201chome\/PCClient\/pc-client-linux.sh -m<\/strong>\u201c)\"\"<\/p>\n
