How to manage a dual user profile at Miguel Hernández University
At Miguel Hernández University (UMH), it is possible for a person to have two user profiles if they perform different roles within the institution. This document explains how to identify and properly manage these profiles to avoid access issues with digital services.
Types of profiles at UMH
The university assigns profiles based on the type of affiliation:
- Professional profile: assigned to the following groups:
- Technical Management and Services Staff (PTGAS)
- Teaching and Research Staff (PDI)
- Research Staff (PI)
- Student profile: assigned to those enrolled in academic programs.
It is common for a student to also receive a professional profile when they begin collaborating with a department or participate in internal internships.
Common issues with dual profiles
Using your DNI number as a login identifier may lead to the following problems:
- Access to UMH Virtual Campus: the system may indicate that you are not enrolled if you log in with the professional profile.
- Google services (Gmail, Drive, etc.): you may be redirected to the professional profile, preventing access to your student email or documents.
Recommendations to avoid conflicts
- Avoid using your DNI as a login identifier.
- Use the specific username assigned to each profile (student and professional).
