How to use the advanced scanner function on the printers from the centralized printing service
The intention of this entry is to give a quick idea of the uses of the new Konica Minolta equipment installed at Universidad Miguel Hernández.
Specifically, we will now focus on how to use the advanced scanner function that appears in the initial menu of a printer from the centralized printing service.
When pressing this key, the following available functions will appear:
We can see the different scanner modes:
- Scan to Email: this function allows us to send emails to our personal email address, considering the file size limitations imposed by the organization. In the case of @umh.es emails, it is 25Mb.
- Email (OCR): in addition to what is explained in the previous paragraph, it generates a PDF file that allows text search.
- Google Drive: allows you to store a scan in the Google Drive account. The first time we do a scan, we will receive authorization from Papercut to write in our scanner folder generated by Papercut. If this process is not done, we will not receive the scans in the Google Drive folder.
- Google Drive (OCR): the same as the previous section, but with the generation of a searchable PDF.
If we press any of the options, the following screen will appear:
This is the scan configuration screen from the Papercut application, where we can distinguish several elements:
- File Name: it is the name the document will have once scanned, composed of “Username” + “Scan Date” + “Scan Time”.
- In the “Options” button, we can change the scan options regarding resolution, single-sided/double-sided, color/grayscale, paper size, etc.
- In the checkboxes at the bottom “Additional pages” or “Request more pages” is what is known as separate scanning. If I place a document on the machine screen and want to scan three sheets to go as a single PDF file, I will have the checkboxes marked to add more pages to that PDF file.

This is the Scan configuration screen. We will enter it if we want to change the scan conditions, and we will have all the options we see on the screen.
Once the necessary adjustments are made, just press the blue “Start” button, and the scan will be sent to the chosen method.
