How to use the scanner function on the printers from the centralized printing service
The intention of this entry is to give a quick idea of the uses of the new Konica Minolta equipment installed at Universidad Miguel Hernández.
Specifically, we will now focus on how to use the scanner function that appears in the initial menu of a printer from the centralized printing service.
In the machine’s native scanner, which is an alternative to the Papercut method, we would have two options for scanning. The screens differ from the advanced scanner method, although they are essentially similar.
Once we press the key, the following screen appears:
On this screen, we find two methods, “Me” (Abbreviation of Scan to Me) and “URL” which allow the following:
- If we press the “Me” button, our email address will appear where the document will be sent.
- If we press the “URL” button, this scan will send a link to your personal account that will be available for two days. Once we receive the email with the link, we click on it and the download will start. Once finished, the document will be deleted from the machine.

The default scan configuration is what is seen on the screen: single-sided original, 300 Dpi, color, compact PDF, etc.
If you want to modify any of the variables, press each of the icons.
And if we press each of the icons, we can see the different options offered by the device:
- Normal duplex, resolution

- Auto color and file type

In the file type section, there is a wide variety of formats to choose from. Note that some of them are not multi-file, such as .jpeg which only supports one page per file.
- Scan size and separate scan

In the scan size section, we can let the device detect the paper size (automatic), or select it ourselves in this index.
The separate scan option, in the image, is activated when it has the yellow dot. This function allows us to put several sheets in one file, for example, if we are scanning from the machine screen (for example, an ID). Or if we are going to scan a large number of documents and they do not fit in the feeder and we have to do it in blocks, this option allows us to put more originals in the feeder and continue scanning originals to the open file.
For more advanced users who want more options, there is a button called “Application” in the lower right corner of the screen, which takes us to more available option menus.
Finally, to start the scanning process of a document, we will have to press the “Start” button.
