How to Check the Version of Windows Installed on Your PC

Keeping your operating system updated is essential to ensure optimal performance of your computer. Knowing which version of Windows you have installed is the first step to ensure you are up to date. Here we show you how to do it easily.

  1. Locate the “Magnifying Glass” icon on your system’s taskbar. A screenshot of this application in Windows 10 and 11 is attached.
  2. Next, type “System” directly and click on the suggested option.
  3. On the screen that appears, locate the “Windows Specifications” section.
  4. Now the edition and version of the operating system installed on our machine are displayed. Remember that knowing the version of Windows is important to ensure you are using the most recent and secure version.

It is also possible to perform the process using the winver command, for this:

  • Press the Windows + R keys at the same time. This will open the “Run” window.
  • Type winver in the field and click OK.
  • A window will appear showing the exact version of Windows you have installed, along with additional information.
